POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Technical Writer will work with the Altair Development Program Manager, Development Engineers, and Architect personnel both from the client and external consulting partners to develop technical documentation and or other electronic ‘how to’ or training medium to support the Altair DevOps Program.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine the needs of end users via Use Case creation.
  • Study product samples and talk with product designers and developers.
  • Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions.
  • Organize and write supporting documentation for DevOps products.
  • Use animation, drawing, diagram, charts and or interactive media to increase user understanding.
  • Select appropriate medium for message delivery based on target audience. Lead collective discussions with source knowledge/domain expertise and targeted audience members for proper alignment.
  • Standardize content subject across chosen media.
  • Gather usability feedback from targeted audience consumers.
  • Revise artifacts as new information arises.
  • Posting artifacts in Confluence and maintain DevOps presence.
  • Collaborate with key constituents to deliver consistent information. Your voice counts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or Communications with an emphasis in or knowledge of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Architecture and or Web Design.
  • 7+ years (with Bachelors) or 5+ years (with Masters) with proven technical writing while supporting engineering or application development teams.
  • Expertise in technical writing and media distribution for software development and design (technical personnel) and higher-level audiences (business personnel).
  • Confluence experience.
  • Software development, Infrastructure and Cloud Computing technologies for the ability to communicate with many levels of the organization via presentation mediums.
  • As needed, have the agility to move past a structured methodology due to time constraints or other immediate drivers and manage to produce quality outcomes.

  • Strong writing skills that can accommodate information flowing from technical engineers and higher-level business personnel.
  • Experience with a medical background or healthcare data domains.
  • Strong knowledge of software design, development, debug and test practices.
  • Knowledge of cloud architectures.
  • Knowledge in information modelling and presenting technical solutions to both technical engineers and translating information to higher level audience such as executives.
  • Experience working with Agile development teams.
  • Experience with Data Governance, Master Data Management, and metadata management.
  • Experience in medium forms as online books/help, SharePoint and advanced Word documentation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency working in a team environment.
  • Strong assertive skills and mentoring capabilities with the ability to draw out or tease out details from engineers to bridge knowledge gaps for other intended audiences.
  • Has clinical infrastructure domain knowledge (IT Systems, HL7, EMR’s, PHR, Security and HIPAA, etc.).
  • Experience in understanding of the nuances of working in an FDA regulated environment.
