POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Cardiovascular Tech Comm is a large department (around 100 people) and about half of those are technical writers. We create instructions for use (IFUs) for medical devices that support therapies related to either the heart, blood, or any related cardio vascular functions.
  • The job is maybe 40% writing and 60% project management. We spend a lot of time gathering information, meeting with subject matter experts, doing reviews, coordinating review comments, and following procedures.
  • We document what we plan to do, document the work we are doing, and then document that we did it. This is not really a heads-down, sit at a desk and write all day job. We collaborate with other writers, and with our business partners and subject matter experts.
  • 40 hours/week. On-site preferred but open to remote.

RESPONSBILITIES

  • Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia, web-based publications and user sites; may produce content for embedded user assistance technology.
  • Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
  • Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users.
  • May document engineering processes and specifications. Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.
  • Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-year degree with 2 years of experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
  • Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within job area typically obtained. through advanced education combined with experience.

  1. Curiosity/willingness to learn/unafraid to ask questions.
  2. Ability to understand complex information and explain in understandable language.
  3. Ability to successfully build relationships with other writers and subject matter expert.
